After a weekend of concrete drying, the clear space gets filled up again with building stuff.....
Aim this week to get the walls picked out, deep holes rough filled and then a first render coat on and to continue the west gable wall up to ceiling level
Below, new lad Jack learns to use the trowel to fill up the big holes....
Underpinning the last areas of wall where there was still some soil....with concrete in place, more stable around base before taking stones out and underpinning with blocks. Note the propping up of the end of the wall to support the upper stonework....
Wall end now underpinned....concrete drying
In view of the weather forecast, ground floor windows are sealed off
Another few layers to the gable wall being tied into the unsquare house wall...nearly there....
.... finally reaches ceiling level
Back wall is all rough filled ready for render coat
Meanwhile, the doorway into the drying room(old dairy) is acro'd ready for wall to be taken out.
Shame that we will lose one of the old lamp holes
big hole followed and one side built up
Barn looking huge against Mike for scale
Stylish downpipe in operation...
.... filling the holes between the stones in readiness for render....
Doorway into drying room almost walled up
and by end of the week, all done
East gable wall prepared for render....
The doorway between the 2 front bays needs to be walled up - new lintels replace wood
then, whilst the sun is shining, the rear guttering goes up.....
but maybe too soon; the galvanized brackets needed to be primed and painted black.....
so watch this space.....'til another week
