Broadrake Bunkbarn - Week 23 Days 109-112 March 30th-2nd April

This week has seen progress in all areas of the barn....
the old dairy has had the old concrete render removed in readiness for infill render

In the main barn, holes are made at first floor level for the padstones for the steel beams
....more holes in walls....!

The new concrete lintels go in to the existing opening between the two front bays to replace the old wooden ones and brickwork goes back to make the wall good above
...then the old opening is filled in with blockwork.

Meanwhile, the washroom is cleared of all debris, and then levelled in readiness for concrete pour the week after next....too much of a rush before Easter. The plumber needs to sort out
exactly where the pipes need to come up before the concrete goes in....

By Tuesday, the rooms start to be set out in brickwork....all alignments are squared off from the main entranceway and stairwell walls....but all other walls are squewiff....so it makes trying to draw up the plans a challenge, in order that we can check exactly how the beds are going to fit in with doorways, heads on beds etc etc.....

the radon layer goes in....at least I think that's what the builder said the yellow layer was.....

and the walls continue to rise...the blue layer is the damp proof membrane....I think...

By the end of the week, more blocks added....& thankfully looking like the rooms will work....

The steels have been ordered and the  builder has calculated the wood required for the floor joists.

A break of 4 days over Easter for the builders and next week should hopefully see the blocks rise to the first floor level....
Hope you had a good Easter!
